A busy week. We learned a new game - Cross the River.
Lesson 1: Chris & Rupert, Fiona & Harold, Daisy & Bally, Ethan & George. The ride worked in walk and trot - both as a ride and then individually. The exercise was to walk or trot large - and then ride a well shaped 20m circle at A or C. The ride used the long diagonals to change the rein.
Lesson 2 : Beth rode Shamus, Lucy rode Ivan, Courtney 2 rode Bally and Abby rode Conker. The first part of the lesson was to practice steering and stopping and starting. We then played games to re-enforce the skills. The new game is Cross the River. The ride walks a figure of eight - with parallel poles at two points on the shape. The poles are the bridge across the river. Someone hides their eyes and says 'stop'. The rider on the bridge is then out - and has to hide their eyes. We finished with an old favourite - Grandma's footsteps.
Lesson 3 : Tabitha rode Conker, Noah rode Bertie and Cody rode Ivan. A small group this week. Simon asked the group to listen carefully and do what he asked. Lots of steering and changing rein - the volunteers had to concentrate too.
