June 3rd 2014
Today we practiced for the visit of HRH The Princess Royal next Tuesday.
The riding school was laid out with games - and stands for the plaque and cake. Cody and Sophie practised handing rosettes to the Princess Sally, and Chris with Terry practised presenting everyone. we were joined by John Williams - we hope he enjoyed his visit.
Lesson 1 was Fiona and George, Chris and Rupert, Kim and Sultan, Bradley and Conker, Daisy and Bally and Ethan and Shamus. This group were the first to try the games course - and we need to make some changes. Mary and Hilary were the 'seventh' horse. Kim, Fiona and Ethan practised getting from their seating to their positions in the arena.
Lesson 2 was Courtney on Rupert, Michelle on Ivan, Courtney 2 on Bally and Damaris on Bertie. The wrinkles with the games were ironed out - how many stations to walk on to get to all of the stations was the question. We practised the pony line-up. Sophie and Cody with Ms Webb presented rosettes. The volunteers practised their line-up too.
Lesson 3 was Cody on Ivan, Sophie on Ben and Maddie on Tatty. This group practised steering and stopping and starting and finished with lots of games of grandma's footsteps.
