21st  October 2014

Weather remains lovely. New Challenges for riders. Today we used the new saddle pads to provide  riders with new challenges.

Lesson 1 : A small group today. Chris & Rupert, Daisy & Shamus, Ethan & George.

The ride worked on the indoor school on school shapes. Ethan rode George using the new saddle pad. This meant that Ethan was challenged to use his core muscles more - and to keep a well balanced seat. Ethan really enjoyed the new challenge. Chris rode accurate shapes with Rupert in walk. Daisy is continuing to master the rising trot. This was Daisy's first ride on Shamus - so a new challenge for her too.

Lesson 2 :  Again new challenges ! Grace rode with us for the first time. She rode Harold - and started to learn to steer, halt and walk-on. Michelle's challenge was to ride a different pony - Bertie. Michelle took a while to become confident - but then told Bertie what to do ! Beth rode her favourite - Shamus. Lucy used her voice to take control of Ivan. Courtney 2 rode George - a new pony for her to get to know. Abby was happy to ride Conker. The group worked a ride - using the school letters to stop and start accurately. Simon timed how long it took to walk on 4 letters - to make sure  the pones walked on briskly.

Lesson 3 : This group took advantage of the lovely weather and went 'up the lane'. Orla and Cody both rode using saddle pads. This was a new challenge for Cody - as she had to sit straight and keep her balance. A challenge for Tabitha too - her first 'proper' ride on Sultan. She sat well on a bigger pony. The weather did catch up with the ride - and we made a quick retreat to the indoor school.
